10 Tips to Study Smart and Save Time

A few days ago, I got to know my marks back from my university. Frankly speaking, I received 4.2 out of 4.5 possible as a grade point average. As a matter of fact, I don’t consider this to be a great achievement. However, I have managed to get such result devoting only a little amount of time for studying in comparison to other people I am acquainted with.

You think it’s just a natural ability or talent? Maybe, yes. To tell you the truth, it was always easy for me to understand various concepts and learn lots of new ideas. I am strongly convinced that the way I have usually learned necessary information played a huge role, too. I didn’t cram in the last minute before the exam or memorize countless details. Thus, I preferred organizing relevant material in a way that gives you an ideal chance to recall much easier.

It is a special strategy that is called holistic learning. Basically, it means that you should organize information into certain webs, thanks to which you can without any difficulty interconnect ideas. There is no need to force these ideas into your head because it’s even ineffective. The better suggestion would be finding how different pieces of information are related.

  • How to build an understanding?

The process of learning somehow might be compared to that of building a house. In fact, you are not given the complete picture. As a result, you ought to make an attempt of listening to lectures, reading textbooks, taking those painstaking notes since this will allow you to comprehend a subject deeper.

  • Getting knowledge holistically

Try to concentrate on using the information that you already have in order to build at least something and start the ball rolling. Remember that it is significant to link concepts together and compress information so that you see the more general and bigger picture.

Don’t forget about using all of your senses. It’s interesting to know that there are certain abstract ideas that are difficult when it comes to memorizing. Nevertheless, the problem is that a person might not use his/her senses. You can shift them closer if you make up your mind to come up with vivid, easily memorizing pictures, images, and feelings that put information together.
